Skyrme Forces with Extended Density Dependence
Received (received date) Revised (revised date) A generalized parameterization of the Skyrme effective force is discussed. Preliminary results are presented for infinite symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter. In particular, it is shown that an enlarged density dependence based on two terms allows to choose independently the incompressibility and the isoscalar effective mass.
متن کاملGiant dipole resonance in deformed nuclei: dependence on Skyrme forces
P.-G. Reinhard Institut für Theoretische Physik II, Universität Erlangen, D-91058, Erlangen, Germany; [email protected] (Dated: October 11, 2006) Abstract The giant dipole resonance (GDR) in deformed nuclei is analyzed using the self-consistent separable random-phase-approximation (SRPA) with Skyrme forces SkT6, SkM, SLy6 and SkI3. The deformed nuclei Nd and U are used as r...
متن کاملNeutron drops and Skyrme energy-density functionals.
The J =0 ground state of a drop of 8 neutrons and the lowest 1/2 and 3/2 states of 7-neutron drops, all in an external well, are computed accurately with variational and Green's function Monte Carlo methods for a Hamiltonian containing the Argonne v18 two-nucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon potentials. These states are also calculated using Skyrme-type energy-density functionals. Commonly used ...
متن کاملExtended Skyrme interaction (I): spin fluctuations in dense matter
Most of the Skyrme interactions are known to predict spin or isospin instabilities beyond the saturation density of nuclear matter which contradict predictions based on realistic interactions. A modification of the standard Skyrme interaction is proposed so that the ferromagnetic instability is removed. The new terms are density dependent and modify only the spin p-h interaction in the case of ...
متن کاملExact vortex solutions in an extended Skyrme-Faddeev model
We construct exact vortex solutions in 3 + 1 dimensions to a theory which is an extension, due to Gies, of the Skyrme-Faddeev model, and that is believed to describe some aspects of the low energy limit of the pure SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. The exact vortices appear in a very particular sector of the theory characterized by special values of the coupling constants, and by a constraint that leads...
